In James the Musical, the life of a famous Flemish person is transformed into a musical show. Natalia, Nils Destadsbader, Margarethe Hermans, and Gert Verholst, among others, are invited in the first season to see the musical of their lives. The second season will start in December.
The format of Dedsit, SBS and Play4 was chosen by a jury, leaving behind five other programs: “99 – Eine: r schlägt sie alle!” (Saturday 1, Germany), “Holey Moley” (Disney/ABC, US), “I Literally Just Told You” (Channel4, UK), “Stealing the Show” (ProSieben, Germany) and “That’s My Breed” (in BC, USA).
The Dutch form “De Traitors”, which had a successful Flemish version on VTM, also won a Golden Rose in the category Non-fiction and live entertainment. In the Flemish version of the programme, influencer Jimmy Lee Six, chef Loïc Van Impe and criminal lawyer Walter Damen infiltrated a group of Flemish people known as traitors and had to try to destabilize the group. The Jamie-Lee Six is finally exposed, leaving the Allies as the winners.
Since 1961, the Rose d’Or Awards have honored international television and radio programs that excel in originality, creativity, and excellence. In the past, “De mol” (2000), “Benidorm bastards” (2010) and “What als?” (2013) has already won the award. Recently, in 2018, One Rose’s “Down the Road” and “Sorry for Everything” won the Gold Award.
