Nikkie de Jager didn’t hand out Eurovision points after all

Nicky de Jager will not be handing out points on behalf of the Netherlands during the Eurovision Song Contest final on Saturday night. Oden’s makeup artist said in a video message shown at a preview of the finale that she didn’t think it looked good.

De Jager also said on Instagram that the decision not to distribute points on behalf of the Netherlands was made with AVROTROS. The broadcaster explained the decision with the following statement: “Now that AVROTROS is no longer part of the Eurovision Song Contest final, we don’t feel called upon to hand out live points. Just like Nikki, we imagined this evening very differently.”

The broadcaster’s statement came after the Eurovision Song Contest organization EBU decided to exclude Jost Klein due to accusations of threats against the singer. He allegedly made a threatening gesture to the photographer when she photographed him outside the show. I did it against convention.

De Jager will distribute the points to the other nations during the final live from the “Europapaparty” in Leeuwarden. The fact that Joost Klein was excluded does not change that, Sepke Jan Buscema said earlier on Saturday on behalf of the organization of the Eurovision Song Contest event in the Frisian capital. Therefore, de Jager reconsidered this choice.
