On December 8th we will be at De Piek in Vlissingen. BeetlesNL and De Kift are organizing an evening in which all stations will be open. Evening comes three: Where does the region come from? How are you now? Where do we want to go? We won’t get there with electric bikes and nature management alone. We need a different way of farming, with different income models. Different economy with different cultural perspectives. This requires knowledge. But science alone won’t get us there: we also need stories. Music, literature, public administration and environment. It is a matter of combining viewpoints. Do we look at what is lost or what is possible? Restoring nature is not just about restoring the integrity of systems damaged by pollution, but specifically about restoring the relationship between people and nature.
Good things happen in all the places residents, conservationists, farmers and other entrepreneurs agree. And if you want other things to happen, you have to do other things. That’s why we’re meeting to have a conversation with the region. Sander Turnhout, writer Fundamentals of field biology book in Then the grass stands like love, the future of nature in Holland, Presented in the afternoon, De Kift – musical storytellers of literary stories – forms the common thread. In between, many guests talk. The talks consist of three parts: Where does the region come from? How are you now? Where do we want to go?
