When McIlroy — who was previously engaged to former tennis star Caroline Wozniacki — saw the ball disappear into the hole all at once on a Level 3 tournament, he raised his arms in the air, after which he courted him and fellow players Tom Kim and shook hands with Victor Hovland.
“As with all holes, you have to be a bit lucky to get a good shot,” said the 34-year-old Northern Irishman. ,, In the end it was the best shot of the day and definitely a reward for me. I didn’t play above average until the eighth hole, but it helped me grow a little bit in the tournament.”
Emotionally, it didn’t make it to #3 in the world. “I’m not that type. Did you take the ball? No, I gave it to the spectator. I’d rather go home with trophies than golf balls.”
