Mark Gallagher believes Max Verstappen in the Netherlands could be a bigger star than Lewis Hamilton in the UK, but only because Limberger has less competition here.
Verstappen and Hamilton are the two big names currently on the Formula 1 grid. They both have huge followings and regularly show impressive things, but in terms of personalities they are very different. While Verstappen is known for his “Dutch modesty” and is sometimes accused of being too modest, Hamilton regularly visits major film premieres and fashion shows, more often than not appearing at the ring in an eye-catching outfit.
Super star in the Netherlands
So Gallagher believes Verstappen is not worried about how his person is used in marketing jargon: “But he is definitely a big star back home in the Netherlands.” GP Racing Podcast. “It is almost impossible to go into any store and not find someone using something from Max Verstappen in a show. Let it be Red Bull, Jumbo supermarkets, or other brands in the Netherlands that have a partnership with him in one way or another.”
Less competition
“In the Netherlands, he is as big a star as Lewis Hamilton is in the UK,” continues the former Jordan Grand Prix CEO. “Maybe more so if I may say so, and that’s just because Lewis has more competition than other top athletes here in the UK,” he says. And there you have it Premier League Football. While in Holland, Max is the only one. You enter a gas station and are greeted by a life-sized cardboard sign bearing the name Max Verstappen. In Max Verstappen’s world he achieves everything he wants to achieve. It meets all the requirements in terms of financial rewards.
