Former HNTM Winner Reveals: ‘She’s Never Received a Prize Money’
In this YouTube series, Daelorian van der Kolk, also nominated for The next top model in the Netherlands 2013, along with the winner again on their participation. When Daelorian asked Nikki about the prize money, she admitted that she never got it. “I thought: In three years, I will have this money in my bank,” she says. There is a problem with the contract – which I read well. “The contract has subtle characters that you have to stick to to win that amount. What are they playing so cleverly with.”
She explains that this is why Nikki never received the payment. They did not follow the rules about their sizes. “It should have been a hip size 90. Doutzen Kroes doesn’t even have a hip size 90. (…) they knew it. I don’t have those sizes and I don’t know if I can go into a hip size 90…”
According to Nikki, this is simply due to its construction and the makers of the show have consciously responded to that. “I can’t look in their heads, but I think they put on the knot very cleverly. They chose me very cleverly as the winner and not Anke (Editor: her finalist) who had a hip size of 90.”
When Nikki was told that the prize money would be passed on, she decided to accept it. “I never started the conversation. (…) These people conflicted? I didn’t really dare. My parents didn’t dare either.” Although the contract expired at that time, she was offered a new one. “I could have stayed with the modeling agency, but that contract has expired.”
In addition to the prize money – and of course the title – you’ll also win a photo session. Then I got it again. “Now I see it is strange that they make you so tasty and promise so much. In a fine line. Then the conversation ends.” Nikki is currently working at another modeling agency where she feels completely at home.
We’ve asked RTL for a response, but haven’t heard back from them yet.
In the meantime, there is a new season of Dutch next top model ether. After three years of absence, the program is finally back. This season, the show is presented by 2015 winner Louisa Lammers. The next top model in the Netherlands It can be seen every Monday in Videoland.
