Basketball star Victor Wimpanyama failed to make his NBA debut for the San Antonio Spurs with a win on the night from Wednesday to Thursday. Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic ruined the nineteen-year-old Frenchman’s first game.
The score was 126-119 in favor of the Mavericks in San Antonio. Doncic immediately asserted himself in the first round. The Slovenian scored triple or double figures in three categories. He scored 33 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, and provided 10 assists.
Wembanyama scored 15 points in his first appearance in the American competition. His first score in the NBA was a 3-pointer. He made three 3-pointers in over 23 minutes played.
The 2.26-metre-tall Wembanyama is viewed as one of basketball’s greatest talents and was selected first in the annual NBA draft in June. Since then, the Spurs’ start in the NBA has been eagerly anticipated.
Devin Vassell was the most accurate with 23 points for Spurs. Partly due to Vassell’s points, the home team led 43-36 after the first quarter. Things got worse in the third quarter (23-32), and the Mavericks did not lose the lead after that.
