Singing the national anthem is one of the most honorable jobs you can have as a singer, so hitting a false note is an absolute nightmare. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened to country singer Ingrid Andress, 32. During the Home Run Derby in Arlington, Texas, she missed almost every note and was subsequently slammed on social media.

“Worst version of the national anthem ever”

Ingrid sang an a cappella version of “The Star-Spangled Banner” and immediately went wrong. She sang so off-key that Philadelphia Phillies player Alec Bohm couldn’t contain his laughter. The song got worse by the second and by the end there was a lot of cheering in the stadium. However, Ingrid didn’t let that stop her and finished the song flawlessly.

It quickly went viral on social media. “My ears were bleeding. Worst version of the national anthem ever,” one wrote on X. Another compared the performance to Fergie’s, who could also count on some criticism at the time. Finally, one person was surprised by the fact that Ingrid had won no less than four Grammys. “And then she won a Grammy too, it was awful!”
