Britney Spears will speak in court for the first time on June 23 in the case surrounding her father Jimmy’s guardianship. Her lawyer, Sam Engham, said this during a hearing on Tuesday, according to reports TMZ.
“My client asked if she could address the court quickly,” said Angham, who did not say exactly what Spears wanted to say. The 39-year-old singer probably talks about her taking on the valuable role.
The judge ruled that Spears may speak in court on June 23.
Jimmy Spears has been in control of his daughter’s life since 2008, since she entered a clinic plagued with psychological problems. It decides what you can and cannot buy. Since 2019, her money has been partially managed by her care manager, Jodi Montgomery.
Spears had wanted to get rid of her father as regent for some time and had actually applied to the court several times through her attorney. However, every three months the judge assesses whether the singer should remain under her father’s guardianship. For now, the court has extended that period each time.
Spears fans feel trapped in her father’s care and protest with the # FreeBritney movement for her independence. They meet regularly in court when there is another hearing.
