Best day in the inner garden of Burgerweeshuis

DEVENTER – Des Konings, the longest running burger festival, is going to be extra special again. With rock, blues, roots, soul, country and a lot of fun in the beautiful courtyard of Burgerweeshuis, Bagijnenstraat 9 in Deventer, on Thursday 27 April. This year the majority of bands come from the United States, but the closest the Hilltop Howlers are from the east of our country. The entrance is free.

The park opens at 13:00 and the first band starts at 13:30. The schoolyard opposite the Burgerweeshuis also takes part in the festival. With a lovely terrace for a snack and a drink and plenty of space for the youngest festival-goers.

Kicking off this year will be Jenny Donut and the Spurs, a quartet from Portland, Oregon. They play a great mix of cowboy, rockabilly and classic country. Next comes Nathan Kalish and the Derechos with their psychedelic folk rock and cosmic country, and then there’s the tough, edgy country punk combo from the Texas Vandoliers.

In the evening, Barnes Whitfield and The Savages rock blues, garage rock and soul machine on stage with a raw live show. An absolute must for fans of Little Richard, Wilson Pickett and Solomon Burke.

Rounding out the day are the Hilltop Howlers from the east. Musically, the band is somewhere on the border between The Black Crowes, The Rolling Stones, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. With former members of the band such as Jovink, Automatic Sam, Bloody Honkies, and the Backcorner Boogie Band in the ranks.
