Another meter chance!

While it snowed beautifully on Wednesday, especially in the Northern Alps, from today it's time for snow again in the Southern Alps. As was the case last weekend, snowfall is concentrated in the Swiss Alps. But from Monday snow clouds could move into the northern Alps again (just like last Wednesday). Or will last week repeat itself? Bring all that snow!

Lots of snow in March

March has certainly not disappointed so far when it comes to snowfall at ski areas. There are great suits in the mountains in different places and this guarantees a great final few weeks of the 2023/2024 ski season. Heavy snow fell last Wednesday in several ski areas on the northern side of the Alps, including the Austrian ski areas in the west, where the snow reached half a meter. This weekend: Snow falls in the Southern Alps

The Southern Alps (northern Italy, southern French Alps, and the southernmost ski areas in Austria and southern Switzerland) can count on another layer of snow during the next three days. It's actually snowing in South Tyrol at the moment. Snow will start falling in many areas tonight. This continues in some areas until Sunday. The focus, just like last weekend, is SAS fees. More than a meter of fresh snow can fall here. But, also, e.g Nassfeld It can fall about 30 cm. Other ski areas where you can also expect a big layer? These include Alic Arena, Zermatt, Alta Badia, Val di Fasa in 2 Alps. The snow line remains at an altitude of about 1,200 metres.

Early next week: More snow

After Sunday, there is a possibility that snow clouds will continue on the northern side of the Alps (especially Austria), just as happened at the beginning of this week. Snow forecasts are increasing from a few centimeters in many places to more than 20 inches and elsewhere Obertauern, Flachau and on Kitzsteinhorn. The French Alps are also likely to get an extra layer early next week, in the Swiss Alps some snow will continue to fall from residual clouds, and in southern Germany you can also expect a new layer at altitude.
