Anglo American plc appoints Matt Walker as Chief Marketing Officer – October 12, 2023 at 9:00 am

Anglo American plc has announced the appointment of Matt Walker as Chief Marketing Officer, following Peter Whitcott’s decision to step down after 33 years at Anglo American. Matt will take up his new role and become part of Anglo American’s executive leadership team, effective 1 December 2023. Matt Walker joined Anglo American’s finance team in 2007 and has served as Head of Corporate Finance since 2021, having served as Group Treasurer for Anglo American. Three years.

He has held a number of senior financial and other positions at Anglo American, including CFO of the copper business in Chile. Matt Walker is Head of Anglo American’s Corporate Finance Group, where he leads capital allocation and integrated planning, as well as the M&A transaction team. Matt joined Anglo American’s finance team in 2007 and has held a number of senior finance and other roles at Anglo American, including CFO of the Chile copper business.

Between 2019 and 2021, as Group Treasurer, he was responsible for the Group’s bank and debt markets financing, including initiating two innovative sustainability-related financing projects. Matt is a Chartered Accountant and holds a BSc in Economics and Economic History from the University of Warwick, UK.
