The Transportation and Public Works Committee approved a draft decree re-inspection of recognized repairmen. That leaves the Flemish Minister of Mobility Lydia Peters Known.
A five-year pilot project is planned, which can be extended for another five years. This means that some re-inspections can be carried out by recognized inspectors at recognized repair companies, rather than at a vehicle inspection centre.
This mainly concerns re-inspections that do not involve measuring equipment. “Such as defects in tyres, mirrors, lights and windows. In addition, re-inspections that require measuring equipment may also fall under the pilot project. This includes adjusting low-beam headlights.”
“We're basically removing a lot of inconvenience for citizens,” Peters says. “Ultimately, the system makes more sense by making repair and re-inspection possible all at once.”
Inspection in the garage
“In addition, in certain places, thanks to the previously approved decentralized inspection system, it will also be possible to carry out periodic inspection in the garage.”
