Major container shipping companies/shipbrokers in Rotterdam will connect their customers with chain of trust for container cargo from North America before July 1, 2024. From this date they will no longer issue pin codes to this customer group. For import containers, exemption is granted only through chain of trust. This has been a successful practice for cargo from Latin America since March 31, Confidence Chain said.
A further introduction to the chain of trust
In the second half of 2024, shipping companies/shipbrokers will further expand Trust Chain to other sailing areas. By the end of 2024 the ambition is to handle the import containers of many customers in Rotterdam in a new secure and reliable way without a PIN code. Ultimately, this applies to all commodities.
The earlier announced priority for shipping companies/shipbrokers to connect their first 100 customers, is now happening in parallel with the introduction of the Foundation to a sailing area.
Ready!
“Each shipping company/shipbroker approaches its customers individually to participate. The trust chain works very simply, but action is required from each link. Only road carriers, inland shipping and rail operators authorized by the trust chain can collect containers at the terminals in Rotterdam.”
Participating Shipping Companies/Ship Brokers
Shipping companies/shipbrokers participating in the chain include CMA CGM, COSCO Shipping, Evergreen, Hapag-Lloyd (via Secure Container Release), HMM, Maersk, Marfret, MSC, ONE, OOCL, Yang Ming and ZIM. Due to the participation of all these deep sea shipping companies, there is a uniform system in the port of Rotterdam for safe and reliable release and collection of import containers without pin code.
