More than a week of open house (scientific) at the Utrecht Science Park
Utrecht> The fourth edition of Utrecht Science Week takes place from Friday 27 September to Sunday 6 October and the Utrecht Science Park is open to all those interested in (applied) science. Almost all the program components have now been announced and the block schedule is live. More program components will follow in the coming weeks. In collaboration with various partners of Utrecht Science Park, a varied program has been put together, including engaging lectures, interactive workshops, guided tours and controversial interviews, about science in Utrecht Science Park, with a focus on the topics of “health” and “sustainability”. We start Utrecht Science Week on Friday 27 September with the Science in Utrecht lecture by Prof. Dr. Peter Luyten. After the weekend, we look forward to the Sustainability Day organized by the Utrecht University of Applied Sciences. On Wednesday evening, the Utrecht Science Week pub quiz for students takes place, which of course focuses on science, Utrecht Science Park and the city of Utrecht. On Thursday, visitors can discover what healthcare and laboratories will look like in the future at the Genmab Healthcare & Laboratories of the Future conference. We round off the Science Week in Utrecht with a section for younger visitors, because it’s the science weekend. But there’s much more to it than that, so take a look at the full programme. here.
In Utrecht Science Park, the largest science park in the Netherlands, more than 55,000 students and 30,000 employees work together to develop and implement pioneering science and solutions in the field of life sciences, health and sustainability. Utrecht Science Week would like to highlight the importance and results of this collaboration. To inspire, to make a bigger difference together. To strengthen and expand existing collaborations and to discover promising new alliances and collaborations. There are programme components for employees, students, graduates and professionals in the field of life sciences, health care and sustainability, but there are also many interesting things to experience for the wider public and the younger target group from Utrecht and the surrounding area. Science Weekend As part of Utrecht Science Week, the Science Weekend will take place on the weekend of 5 and 6 October.
Everyone is welcome, because science is of course open to everyone, but the focus is on families with children aged 8 to 14. No less than eight organizations from the Utrecht Science Park have come up with exciting activities to introduce visitors to science from different perspectives. The participating organizations are: Utrecht University (and the Botanical Gardens), Hubrecht Institute, Westerdijk Institute, UMC Utrecht, Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital, Princess Máxima Center, KNMI and Utrecht University of Applied Sciences. KNMI opens its doors on Saturday, October 5th and the other organizations on Sunday, October 6th. You can take part in guided tours, interactive workshops, samples, presentations and more and you can register as a visitor for free.
