The Dutch Food and Consumer Products Safety Authority (NVWA) has arrested three suspects in Schiphol on charges of smuggling birds and hatching eggs. The Israelites had ten live parrots, four beautiful hibiscus and six red-backed parakeets, and 74 eggs from various birds, probably cranes, pheasants, and flightless birds.
Last year, the NVWA found 170,000 small snakes in suitcases (see video above).
The Israelis likely recently seized the animals and eggs from a German, according to the NVWA. The organization stated that “none of the birds or eggs were accompanied by mandatory official documents, such as health declarations.”

The Royal Military Police were alerted to “suspicious noises coming from a suitcase”. It turned out to contain a cage with parrots. The eggs were in the carry-on luggage.
After the arrest on Monday, two eggs have already hatched, a tinamou (a flightless bird) and possibly a peacock.
