Haas drivers look forward to America’s first ‘home race’
The American Haas F1 team will compete in the upcoming Grand Prix at its home race in Miami. These are extra busy times for the racing team with PR activities, as the team has many American sponsors. Despite the full schedule, it gives drivers Nico Hulkenberg and Kevin Magnussen extra motivation to perform but enjoy it even more.
“This is the first of three home races for the MoneyGram Haas F1 Team this season and the team is in good shape at the moment. We are in the battle for points if we get the chance and we hope to show our capabilities to our American partners and home fans,” said the German, who will drive for Sauber from 2025.
Magnussen admits that competing in America feels different for the team. “Miami is a big event for us, the first of three home races. It’s a great event, a great circuit, personally I love the circuit – it’s a street circuit, but it has some good high-speed parts. It was one of our best weekends last season, and We hope to have an even better race with our car this year,” says the Dane, referring to his hard-earned point with tenth place.
Magnussen is very pleased with the 5.4km track in Florida. “Good track for racing; You’ve got the back straight, which is very long, and then a hairpin straight, so whatever battle you’re in, tends to continue into Turn 1 with another TRS zone. Of course the American races are busy for us because we’re an American team with a lot of American sponsors, so I’m looking forward to the whole week.”
