The flip phone is back. Just like at the beginning of this century, you can fold smartphones again, and this time it's possible thanks to special, flexible displays. We have listed the best models in this category.
Pen support and Samsung's universal desktop Dex mode are nice additions for power users. The updates will continue until 2028, which is less time than Samsung's current regular top model.
The Z Fold5's cameras are also less impressive, as they don't have the ability to zoom far or take macro photos, and although the device is water-resistant, it's not dust-proof. The crease in the inner screen is still clearly visible.
Best foldable phone: Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 is our favorite 'foldable phone' at the moment. The device costs less than Samsung's higher-end non-foldable model, although the interior is now a year older. The screen and battery life are also lower, but compared to other vertically foldable foldables, they are pretty good. The download speed is frankly disappointing.
The cover display on the front is nice and large and the cover is waterproof, which is also unusual for a foldable phone. It's unfortunate that there is a visible and tangible crease in the screen.
As is typical for a foldable phone, you can take good selfies with the cameras, but the option to zoom farther or take macro photos is missing.
The Galaxy Z Flip5 runs Samsung's OneUI software, which will be updated until mid-2028, as promised by the manufacturer.
