Blom Cup winner VDL Lightfeet at WEF Sport Horse Auction

One of the breeding of Geert van der Meer VDL Lightfeet (Arezzo VDL x Indoctro) was the most expensive bidder at last night’s WEF Sport Horse Auction. The Dutch champion six-year-old show jumper has been sold for $575,000 (more than €541,000). Fifteen jumpers have been auctioned at the annual auction in association with VDL Stud during the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington. All but two of the horses sold for more than $100,000.
The talented VDL Lightfeet has been a huge success this past year. Ridden by Alex Gill, the horse won the Bloom Cup and at the World Championships in Lanakin Group finished ninth in the six-year-olds’ final. So there was a lot of bidding for Arezzo’s son VDL and he eventually found a new owner for $575,000.
The second most expensive horse was also the son of Arezzo VDL. eight years VDL Christophe Arezzo VDL x Chin Chin sold for $290,000. Christophe ran his first international competition at Exloo in January and is active at 1.40 metres.
Two horses sold for 250,000 euros. Vdl mr (El Dorado x Carambol) from a line Victor (Lucky Boy xx), who represented America at WEG in Stockholm in 1990 with Joan Scharffenberger. other washing VDL Magnus (Etoulon VDL x Arezzo VDL). The six-year-old Khayd jumps at a 1.20 and comes from the influential Bryolieta tribe.
