SC Cambuur also acquired striker Bjorn Joensen after midfielder Ben Rienstra and Navarone Four. The Norwegian international was without a club after his departure from the Canadian Montreal team. Campour announced on Monday that Johnson is training on a trial basis, and he was already signed up a day later.
“Bjorn has been here for a few days to take several tests and to train with the first selection,” says Technical Director Foeke Booy. “He has shown, despite a limited number of playing minutes in recent times, that he is very fit. With this we have filled the striker position again after the departure of Tom Boyer.”
The 31-year-old striker has signed a contract with Leeuwarden until the end of the season. Johnsen previously played in the Eredivisie for ADO Den Haag and AZ. He scored nineteen goals for ADO in the Eredivisie in the 2017-2018 season. This led to a move to Alkmaar. At AZ, Johnsen couldn’t fully live up to expectations. He has played in Norway, South Korea and North America in recent years.
Last week, Campour already acquired the midfielder without Rienstra until the end of the season. The Frisian club also strengthened itself with Four. Sjors Ultee’s side are 17th in the Eredivisie with 12 points and are only ahead of FC Groningen on goal difference.
