It is well known that Formula 1 is becoming increasingly popular in the United States. The sport jumped in hand and next season there are three US Grand Prixes on the programme. No real American driver or team has ever been released. According to Zach Brown, that’s not a bad thing either.
There is currently only one US racing stable on the grid with Team Haas. However, Haas is based in Europe and does not have an American in a major role. Andretti’s team is eager to enter Formula 1, but the American racing family can’t count on a warm welcome. Indycar driver Colton Herta also got a chance to get an F1 seat at AlphaTauri but didn’t have enough super licensing points.
According to McLaren CEO Zak Brown, having an American team or driver is not a must. The US CEO spoke to Motorsport.com: “It would be great if both happened. It would boost Formula 1 here. We don’t currently have either and we’re looking at how popular Formula One is here. I’d like to see it, but I don’t think it’s necessary because Formula 1 she can do without it.”
