British writer and painter Raymond Briggs has died at the age of 88. His family announced it. Briggs is famous for snowman, A picture book without text about a boy having an adventure with a snowman.
His family announced through his publisher Penguin Random House that he passed away last night. “Raymond’s books have influenced millions of people around the world,” the family said in a statement.
According to his relatives, Briggs cherished the children’s drawings he sent him that were inspired by his books. He hung them in his studio. “He will be missed by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends, team, healthcare staff and neighbors.”

According to his family, Briggs lived a “rich and full life” and also shared his “sense of fun and madness” with his family and artist friends. “He loved Practical jokes Enjoy targeting himself.”

Born in London in 1934, Briggs became a professional painter after studying painting at University College London. He worked in advertising and taught illustration at Brighton College of Art.
Since the 1970s, he has become one of the UK’s most popular writers and illustrators. His books have been translated into several languages and adapted for film, theater and television.
In the statement, his family thanked the Royal Sussex County Hospital, which Briggs has cared for for weeks.
