6.44 pmSerena Williams has no plans to end her tennis career following her early elimination from Wimbledon. The 40-year-old American will take part in the WTA Tour Championships in Toronto at the start of August, according to a report by event organizers.
Williams competed in Wimbledon with a wild card, losing in the first round to Frenchman Harmony Tan at the end of June. Williams, the seven-time champion of London, retired with injury in the first round of Wimbledon a year ago and has since been out of singles matches due to injuries.
After Tan was eliminated, Williams left her future open, although she had already hinted at extending her career.
Williams last won a Grand Slam in 2017. More than five years ago she won the Australian Open. Next Grand Slam tournament in her country. The US Open begins on Monday, August 29.
Wiebes rushes to win the women’s second round

Italian tennis referee suspended for match-fixing
3:05 pmTennis referee Francesco Totaro has been temporarily suspended by the International Integrity Agency ITIA. The Italian was accused of match-fixing.
Totaro ruled at the national level. His suspension is retroactive to June 22 this year. During the investigation, Totaro will not be allowed to conduct or attend tennis matches.
The International Tennis Federation (ITF) transferred responsibility for doping policy and anti-corruption programs to ITIA on 1 January 2022.
Amelink new soccer coach for PEC Zwolle players

Two months ago, Zwolle introduced Roeland Ten Berge as the new head coach. That connection was quickly cut off when Ten Berge was able to become assistant coach René Hake with the Go Ahead Eagles’ men.
“For Olivier, this is his first real job as a head coach, and therefore he is following in the footsteps of his predecessor Juran,” says Mariska Kugelman, executive director of women’s football at PEC Zwolle. “We all now know that PEC Zwolle Women is the perfect place for young and talented footballers to reach maturity and it’s no different for coaches.”

Kenya’s Umanyala is still getting a US visa for the World Championships in Athletics
12:39 pm Ferdinand Omanyala, Africa’s fastest man, is still getting a US visa so he can compete in the World Championships in Athletics. His coach told AFP about it on Thursday.
Omanyala had announced earlier Thursday that he could not compete in the World Athletics Championships in Eugene due to a visa delay. “Even if I get a visa today, it will be too late,” said the disappointed Kenyan athlete, who was due to start in the 100 metres, and whose series is already scheduled for Friday.
