Chikina’s 17-year-old life ends abruptly in the North Sea: “Why did he go to sea?” | abroad
In 2013, Chikina Fina (17) came to Belgium from the Congo with one goal: to study to build the best life possible. He even left his parents and five siblings for it. But on Thursday afternoon, his dream came to an abrupt end: the teenager, who could not swim, was drowned off the coast of Ostend by a violent drowning. “In a few seconds, this is fatal, although there are saviors.”

The message from the Prosecutor’s Office in Bruges is quite clear: 17-year-old Chicina Fina sank from Ukel due to a strong current. Then the sea seemed flat and calm, but a strong current was already under the surface of the water. As the upper current sends water ashore, the water must also flow back into the sea. This again flows along the bottom.
