The big absentee in the final was Simone Biles. The gymnast who was the strongest in the final canceled due to mental health issues. Earlier, Biles left the team competition after a failed jump because she was under too much pressure. She fanatically encouraged her teammates from the stands.
The overall final match went on for a long time. 22-year-old Rebecca Andrade of Brazil, who finished second behind Biles in qualifying, started her jump with a 6.0 difficulty. With 15,400 points, her Cheng significantly outperformed her competitors. On the uneven strip bridge, it was Lee who scored very well. The two didn’t make big beam mistakes. The decision is located on the last floor.
On the ground, Andrade scored higher in the playoffs than her competitor from America. Her repeat record in qualifying earned her the gold medal, but two minor mistakes cost her dearly. Sunisa Lee sprinted with the gold medal. Angelina Melnikova of Russia came third behind Andrade.

Leakey Weavers had nothing more than a supporting role in the final. The 29-year-old gymnast did not qualify for the final fight initially, but a cancellation by Canadian Ellie Black ensured that she was allowed to compete as the first reserve. She couldn’t surprise and after four disappointing exercises she finished 24th and last.
A striking moment came after Waves’ first routine. During the break, she appeared in different clothes than she had worn before.
