75 years of Keukenhof: Princess Margaret opens the anniversary edition

Today, Princess Margarethe opens the annual Keukenhof International Flower Fair in Lisse. Keukenhof is not unknown territory for the princess. As a little girl, she was actually present at the opening of the world-famous park in 1950. Read on to see the best photos of the day.

Princess Margaret visited the Keukenhof 75 years ago with her sisters Princess Beatrix and Princess Irene and her mother Queen Juliana. Queen Juliana was the patron of the exhibition at that time. The Flower Show started small, but has now grown into a world-famous attraction. Anyone who has visited this colorful exhibition will not be surprised that about 1.4 million people visit the park during the eight weeks that the exhibition lasts.

To celebrate the special anniversary, this season there will be an exhibition in which objects, nostalgia and videos tell stories of the past. Visitors get a look behind the scenes from the first edition to the present, but also look to the future. The anniversary season will eventually conclude with an outdoor concert by the Metropole Orchestra.

Princess Margaret resumed work on March 13 after a quiet period. Princess Josinebining was then handed over to Afghan activist Laila Haidari.
