The container ship Ever Given, which closed the Suez Canal at the end of March, will arrive at the port of Antwerp on December 24. This was reported by transportation magazine Flows on Monday. Antwerp will be the first port in Northern Europe to be offloaded after the ship’s overhaul.
Ever Given is currently on its way to the Chinese port of Qingdao, where it will be repaired. The ship is expected to arrive on September 17th. According to the current schedule, the container giant will once again roll out on shipping company Evergreen’s CES service on November 15. After stopping in several Chinese ports, Singapore and Colombo in Sri Lanka, the ship set the course for Piraeus in Greece and from there to Antwerp. The ship is expected to arrive at the Antwerp Gateway terminal on December 24. On December 26, the ship Ever Geffen sets sail for Hamburg.
The Ever Geffen was stuck in the Suez Canal on March 23. The liberation of the ship took six days, during which 422 ships with a total tonnage of 26 million tons were prevented. The Egyptian authorities then detained the ship for more than three months during a legal battle between the owner and the Suez Canal Authority over compensation. On July 29, the ship finally reached the port of Rotterdam. After a layover in the UK, Ever Given is now empty on its way to China. On August 20, it again passed through the Suez Canal.
