Vitesse takes into account coach Leitch’s departure to Bochum

Perhaps Vitesse should look for a new coach. Sources at Arnhem Club confirm a message from Bild that Germany’s Thomas Letsch is about to switch to VfL Bochum. The 54-year-old is in his third season with Vitesse.

In the first year under the German, Vitesse reached the cup final, where Ajax was very strong. Just before that final, Leach extended his contract until the summer of 2023. Vitesse finished sixth in the Eredivisie last season, but was unsuccessful in securing a conference league ticket to the play-offs in European football.

Letsch saw a large number of (key) players leave last summer. Due to the problems of capturing Vitesse, it took a long time for his selection to be solidified. Vitesse, which recently acquired the Common Group of US investment party entrepreneur Cole Barry, is seeing a disappointing start to the season. The Arnhem team has only 5 points after seven competitive matches and is in 14th place.

Bochum is at the bottom of the Bundesliga with just one point after seven rounds. This led to the departure of coach Thomas Reese last week. In the search for a successor, Bochum ended up in Lech, who had previously worked for Red Bull Salzburg and Austria Vienna, among others.
