Annemic van Vleuten, the experimental Olympic champion, was the Dutchman’s best at the sixth time: 5.55. It was faster than Lucinda Brand. New Dutch champion Reagan Marcus (8th) and Anuska Koster (10th) also finished 10th in 10th place. Van Vleuten has already won the Italian stage race twice.

Giro Donne will stay in Sardinia for another two days with two flat stages. It then follows the crossing to the mainland where it continues on Mondays. The Giro d’Italia women’s race runs until Sunday, July 10.

The Czech Republic falls off the podium: a nightmare for every competitor

Marketa Hajkova made a dramatic start to her Giro Donne. The Czech fell one meter from the starting platform, thus facing the nightmare of every cyclist. Fortunately, she didn’t need long to recover from the shock and proceeded quickly – without much damage – in hopes of setting the best time possible during the race against the clock.

Sausage wins the final stage of the Tour of Belgium

Annemarie Worst won the final stage of the Tour of Belgium on Thursday, a stage that spanned nearly 110 kilometers with start and finish at Geraardsbergen.

The 26-year-old Dutchman was clearly the best at the top of Muur van Geraardsbergen. She defeated Belgium’s Chary Bossuet and her compatriot Anne van Roygen. Poland’s Agnieszka Skalniak came fourth and took first place in the final standings.
