Our country is represented by Jeremy McKeese, winner of the ninth season of The Voice Belgique. The young singer, who was born in Antwerp to a family full of musicians, performs “Miss You”, a mixture of pop, soul and a bit of hip-hop. It will be Thursday 16 pm.

He will be faced by 17 other riders at the Olympic Pala: Finland, Israel, Serbia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Malta, San Marino, Australia, Cyprus, Ireland, North Macedonia, Estonia, Romania, Poland, Montenegro, Sweden and the Czech Republic.

Especially the Swedish song “Hold Me Closer” and the emotional song of a masked man from Australia “Not The Same” has a chance of making it into the top ten, according to the bookmakers.

The Eurovision Song Contest is organized by the European Broadcasting Corporation (EBC), which unites all public broadcasters in Europe. In order to participate, each country must perform a song that has not been previously released and lasts for a maximum of three minutes. A maximum of six people can stand on stage during the performance. Our country has won only once: in 1986, with Sandra Kim’s performance of “J’aime la vie”.

This year, forecasts put Ukraine in first place among the candidates for the 66th edition of the singing competition. The first position will essentially be a symbol of the country, which is currently under heavy fire from Russian forces. Pending a win, Ukraine already qualified for the final on Tuesday during the first semi-final, with Switzerland, Armenia, Iceland, Lithuania, Portugal, Norway, Greece, Moldova and the Netherlands managing to qualify as well.

The so-called “Big Five” – France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom – automatically qualified for the final. Because Italy is the host country, they were already sure of their place in the final. After Naples in 1965 and Rome in 1991, the Eurovision Song Contest was held in Italy for the third time.

The Grand Final is scheduled for Saturday 14 May.
