This update to WhatsApp makes adding new contacts easier
WhatsApp will soon introduce a new feature that will be familiar to many people: a screen to directly enter the phone number. You can call this number directly via WhatsApp, or instantly add this person to your contact list.
If you’ve ever exchanged contact information with someone, you know how annoying this can be: you first have to add that information to your phone before you can use it within WhatsApp. So it always feels like a double punishment: first, go through the contact form and then look for that button in WhatsApp to add the same person again.
Then just hope the person in question has WhatsApp, otherwise you can start all over again. You’ll be able to get rid of this with a future update to WhatsApp, because you’ll soon be able to enter the phone number directly from the app itself.
New button
WhatsApp is already testing the new feature among early users. This has been spotted before WABetaInfo In Android version 2.24.13.17 of the chat app. This will have a new button under the Chats tab. If you click this button, number keys will appear. This way you can call a number faster via WhatsApp. In addition, it also instantly checks whether the number entered has WhatsApp.
The idea behind this is mainly to save time. For example, you don’t always want to have a permanent contact in your phone for everyone on WhatsApp. If you want to do this, you can do it later. In fact, the process is reversed. Ideal if, for example, you want to list a house and don’t want to immediately immortalize the phone number in your phone’s address book.
First on Android, later on iOS.
If you want to be the first to use this new feature, you’ll have good luck with your Android phone for now. According to WABetaInfo, the update will be released in the coming days. Initially only for beta users, but usually also for other users later. Let’s hope iPhone owners don’t have to wait too long either.
