These are the best smartphone cameras of 2022 | Technique
The Galaxy S22 Ultra’s brand new cameras excel. Not only because the four lenses are well hidden in the body, but also because the performance is very good. The main camera has 108MP for normal photos and the 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera lets you capture ultra-wide photos and capture large buildings up close.
Additionally, there’s also a 10MP telephoto lens for triple zoom, which is useful if you’re close to a flower and want to position the pistil in the photo very sharply. With the 10MP telephoto lens for ten times zoom, you can still read text from far away.
The latter is special: we don’t see it with other smartphones. The main camera also features a special glass that prevents lens reflection.
Versatile camera
The camera is versatile: it can zoom well and take good night photos. What helps is that Samsung has improved the software, so that photos are processed better and faster. You can see this, for example, in photos and videos at night, which have much less noise.
AI helps improve portraits: it can recognize and expand the difference between a background and a person. This makes for a better selfie, because your subject stands out.
If you want to exercise more control over your photos, you can download the Expert RAW app. This is a separate app from Samsung that allows you to set the ISO value, exposure, and shutter speed yourself.
Best iOS Camera: Apple iPhone 13 Pro
Of all the new iPhones, we are very impressed with the iPhone 13 Pro. The OLED display is excellent, the hardware is fast and sturdy, and the software works very well. The cameras are of good quality. We mainly mean speed, consistency, and video quality, because the selfie camera and the telephoto camera (which you can zoom in/out with) aren’t very special.
The iPhone 13 Pro is recognizable by its straight sides instead of the rounded corners and is also much smaller than the other smartphones we recommend. If you are looking for a relatively small smartphone with a good camera, the iPhone 13 Pro is recommended.
If you prefer a smartphone with a longer battery life, iPhone 13 Pro Max is the best option. There are photo opportunities on both devices that we haven’t seen like this on other devices.
You don’t have to buy the most expensive iPhone
The camera is the most important improvement over all the iPhone 13 devices. The iPhone 13 and 13 Mini share the same cameras, and the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max share the same cameras. We’re glad Apple no longer requires you to buy the biggest device if you want the best cameras: so our recommendation is the more accessible iPhone 13 Pro.
The cameras on the back have a larger sensor than the iPhone 12 predecessors, which has a positive effect on the light and, accordingly, the quality of the photos. The telephoto camera can zoom in at 3x (compared to 2.5x or 2x with the iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 12 Pro), but it’s slightly less sensitive to light.
