The very convenient charging function is missing from the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7

As a Samsung Galaxy Watch user, are you used to charging your watch with the back of your smartphone? Then say goodbye, because this function will disappear with the new Samsung Galaxy Watch 7.

In a new one Blog post Samsung says the so-called Wireless PowerShare feature is missing from the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7. That’s because new health-related features are being prioritized. These features are found in the new BioActive sensor, which can more accurately measure and process fitness and health-related information.

But this sensor is designed a little differently than its predecessor, which means it requires more space under the hood. Because of this, the Watch7’s glass back has also been given a slightly different shape. The new sensor ensures that the distance between the Watch 7’s charging coil and the actual wireless charger is too great to make a good connection.

Do you only use the included charger?

Wireless charging is no longer possible with Samsung’s new wearables, but regular charging will soon be different too. The greater distance between the coil and the charger also ensures longer charging times, especially when not using the included charger. So it was really a matter of choice for Samsung and they clearly chose health features.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch7 was unveiled this week, as was the Galaxy Watch Ultra. The two smartwatches are the first to come with Wear OS 5. The new OS should ensure more power-efficient devices: The Watch Ultra should last 100 hours in power-saving mode and up to 48 hours in workout power-saving mode.
