Padil’s progress is unstoppable. Almost every city or municipality has padel fields. In a few weeks it will also be possible to play this sport in Mortsel.
The city has six ball courts, three of which are covered, built on the sporting landscape of Krijgsbaan. The sites will be ready by September 1st at the latest. To offer lessons as well, Mortsel is partnering with the Padel ChiKita School. For example, training courses for children and adults will be offered during the holidays. By the way, everyone will be able to reserve a site thanks to the Playtomic app. The padel fields will be available to reserve seven days a week from 8am to 11pm.
Baseball on arrival
With the arrival of padel in the sports scene, the city council is taking a new step to bring various sports to this young site. Currently, more than a thousand football players from VC Mortsel OG, Cantincrode and Helderhoek clubs use the football pitches and Sporthaven, the canteen with 22 changing rooms.
In the spring of 2022, the Mortsel Stars softball and baseball club will also be coming to the sports scene. Until then, this association was still present on the other side of Krijgsbaan. (fisp)
