Tech giant Skyline Communications opens new office in Balkans: ‘The region is full of talent’

Skyline Communications, the West Flemish tech giant from Izegem, has opened a new office in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Thus, the absolute global player in software for media companies is anchoring itself in a region considered to be one of the most emerging European innovation hubs. Skyline Communications already has offices in Portugal, Singapore and the United States.

The high-tech software company has been ranked number one in the world for years. All thanks to their DataMiner, a unique platform that allows major international media companies such as Al Jazeera, OneWeb, Sky, HBO and Disney to manage and control their entire technology infrastructure.

This way, operators get a virtual version of their entire process and can respond quickly, in part through artificial intelligence, if something threatens to go wrong.

All major media and telecom companies in the world use DataMiner. In order to optimally support its customers, Skyline employs nearly 400 employees on all continents.

There are offices in Lisbon and Aveiro in Portugal, Miami and Singapore, but the company also has a permanent presence in Australia, Brazil, China, Colombia, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, the Philippines and the United Kingdom. And now Bosnia and Herzegovina also follows.

Technology Hotspot in Southeast Europe

“Opening a new additional office in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is a very logical option for us. The region is undergoing full expansion and is being dubbed a new technology hotspot in Southeast Europe,” said Fredrik Vandenberg, Chief Financial Officer at Skyline Communications.

“Not only do we have a base for big tech companies like Microsoft, IBM and Oracle, but Al Jazeera, one of our biggest customers, has a hub there as well. This ensures, among other things, that there is a huge amount of talent in the field of developers and engineers in the Balkans.”

Grows to twenty people

The office can be found in the Avaz Twist Tower, an iconic 142-meter skyscraper with an impressive view of the Bosnian capital.

The Sarajevo office aspires to grow into a team of twenty people in the coming months, led by Dean Muzica, a former Principal Solution Architect on the island and an activist with Skyline Communications for several years. “Dean comes from Bosnia, so he is the perfect person to manage the startup and collaborate with our other offices,” says Fredrik Vandenberge.

The United Arab Emirates

There are very talented people here who would be a perfect match with the other teams scattered across various locations.”

In addition to the new office in Bosnia and Herzegovina, talks are currently underway to open an additional office in the UAE.
