PSV Eindhoven beat PAOK in their last duel test with Galatasaray

10.19 pm: PSV Eindhoven beat PAOK 1-0 in a friendly match. Noni Madwicki scored the winning goal in Eindhoven in the first half. Half an hour later he shot from close range after Marco van Ginkel’s shot was saved by the goalkeeper.

The confrontation with the Greeks was the last preparatory match for PSV Eindhoven to face Turkish Galatasaray in the preliminary rounds of the European Champions League. Eindhoven will meet the Turks at home next Wednesday, and after a week the return will be in Istanbul. PSV must survive three rounds to reach the group stage.

PSV coach Roger Schmidt gave a different performance in both halves. Goalkeeper Joel Drumel and defenders Andre Ramalho and Philip Moeny made their debuts at their new club’s stadium. The trio was in the beginning, just like Mario Gotze.

Twenty Russians are welcome back to international events

6:26 pm: World Athletics has announced that an additional 20 Russian athletes will be allowed to appear in international events again this year. Athletes may compete under a neutral flag.

A total of 143 Russian athletes now meet the exceptional criteria set by world athletics. According to the International Association of Athletics Federations, five athletes have not been allowed to return to stadiums.

The Russian Federation has been suspended since late 2015, after evidence of widespread and regulated use of doping was found. Athletes from Russia have not been welcomed at international events for years. Only if they can demonstrate that they play their completely doping-free sport and have no history of doping can they participate under a neutral flag.

The World Association of Athletics Federations of Athletics decided before the Games that a maximum of ten athletes from Russia could go to Tokyo.

Van de Zandscholp beats defending champion at Dutch Open

6.09 pmButch van de Zandscholp reached the quarter-finals of the Dutch Open tennis tournament in Amersfoort. The 25-year-old was too strong in the second round for German Mats Moraing, who won the first edition of the Challenge Championship last year. 6-3 became 7-5 for the 132nd in the world, which took second place in his country.

Russian tennis star stranded in first round in Lausanne

4:15 pm Tennis star Arantexa Ross stranded in the first round of the clay court tournament in Lausanne.

The Dutch sixth seed lost in three sets to 19-year-old Russian Kamila Rakimova. The match ended after more than 3 hours: 7-6 (6) 5-7 7-5.

Rakhimova is number 132 in the world ranking. Ross (30) ranked 85th in the world ranking.

AZ tied in the last minute against KRC Genk in Belgium

He resigned as coach of the Apollo Amsterdam men’s team at the beginning of this year.

Unlike men, Dutch 3×3 basketball players did not qualify for the Tokyo Olympics.

Luten battles fatigue in the run-up to the British Open

10.40 am: Just Lutton will start his eighth British Open on Thursday in good spirits. A brief test ride at the Royal St George’s Golf Club in Sandwich went as planned. He played eleven holes on the “Extremely Hard Track” on the English East Coast and had no physical problems.
