Spanish clubs in trouble due to World Cup qualification in South America: Free weekend for FC Barcelona

Ronald Koeman has a good chance of having a free weekend with FC Barcelona after the international match. According to the league schedule, Barcelona will play against Sevilla on Saturday 11 September, but at the request of the clubs, La Liga has asked for a postponement from the Spanish Football Association. This also applies to the Villarreal – Alvas competition.

The upcoming international tournament will last 2 days longer in South America than in other parts of the world, meaning clubs will not be able to withdraw their South American international until next weekend. The decision was appealed by the Spanish Federation, but the International Sports Tribunal, CAS, rejected it. Clubs from Spain and other European leagues have threatened not to release players with 2 extra days.

La Liga continues to struggle
La Liga, the organizer of Spain’s leading divisions, continues to oppose the extension of international competition in South America through legal means. The plan for the 4th round of the Spanish League (September 10-13) has already been finalized. For example, the Atletico and Real Madrid matches have been moved from Saturday to Sunday (September 12). There may even be a weekend vacation with Common Barcelona.

The plane was delivered
La Liga offers club charter flights to Spain to withdraw their South American internationals soon after the World Cup qualifiers.
