“Schools in Suriname start on January 7th”
The Ministry of Education in Suriname announced on Wednesday that the second quarter of the academic year will start on Friday, January 7, 2022. The legal regulations for a two-week vacation have been observed. The Cabinet (RvM) has decided not to close the school doors for the time being, despite the increase in the number of COVID-19 infections.
There are protocols people work with and everyone should stick to MoHanA protocols. Not only at school, but also at home, people must adhere to the rules. The department advises parents not to allow their children to go outside unnecessarily.
However, vaccination is still recommended, but not everyone is willing to be vaccinated. This remains a major challenge for the Ministry. Schools are still working with groups of 15 students.
Meanwhile, the ministry has also started relocating teachers who have to go indoors. Schools in remote areas will also start classes on Friday, January 7.
