Samsung presented its Galaxy Watch5 at its Unpacked event. The Watch5 and Watch5 Pro both get bigger batteries than their predecessors, while the Pro version gets some of its own features.
The larger Watch5 has a 410mAh battery, while the Watch5 Pro has a 590mAh battery. The smallest watch has a 284mAh battery, compared to 247mAh in the smaller Galaxy Watch4 from last year. Both watches can also be charged faster. When the Watch4 is 30 percent full after half an hour, the charger can charge the Watch5 Pro for 35 percent in half an hour and the Watch5 at 45 percent.
The watches also have a panel of ‘sapphire crystal’ above the display which should be 60 percent stronger than chemically hardened Watch4 glass. Other specifications, such as OLED screens, are the same as their predecessors, Reviewed by Tweakers last year. The smaller version gets a 1.19-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 396 x 396 pixels. The larger model will have a 1.36-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 450 x 450 pixels.
The professional version will be the only one that supports step-by-step navigation and various mathematical functions, such as the ability to return to the starting point with the touch of a button and import and follow gpx tracks. Watches run on Wear OS by Google. The Watch5 comes in 40 and 44mm versions, while the Pro version comes in only a 44mm version.
The Watch5 costs €299 for the small version, while the large version costs €329. There will also be a variant of both versions with 4G support and it will cost 50 euros more. Pro costs 469 euros for the version with Bluetooth only and 519 euros for the version with 4G.
