Samsung adds Astrophotography mode to Camera Raw app for S22 – Tablets and Phones – News

Samsung is adding an Astrophotography mode to its Camera Raw app for the Galaxy S22 phones. The option allows users to capture planets, stars, and constellations at a shutter speed of up to four minutes.

Expert Raw has built-in software to compensate for the movement of celestial bodies, Samsung says. By recognizing patterns, the software attempts to recognize and adapt to different elements, such as constellations and planets, in the framework. The interface also has an Astro guide to highlight the constellations and planets.

Astronomical mode does not come in the regular camera app. Users need Expert Raw, which can be found in the Galaxy Store. The feature is only in beta at the moment and requires Android 13 on the Galaxy S22.

In addition to the astrophotography mode, Camera Assistant also comes to the app. It can turn many functions on and off, such as Auto HDR, automatically switch between different cameras and force faster shutter speeds. There will also be an option to not smooth images automatically. It’s not known if Camera Raw’s new features will also come to previous Galaxy phones.
