Prince of Wales described the challenge of protecting the world’s oceans as “like nothing we faced before.”

In a letter to the Blue Forum for Economy and Finance in Monaco, Prince William said that life at the bottom of the ocean was “decreasing before our eyes” and called for an ambition “at the global, national and local levels.”

At the Grimaldi Forum, which was named after the royal family in Monaco, the prince spoke in English and French while putting what was in danger.

“The truth is that the healthy oceans are necessary for all life on Earth. It generates half of the oxygen in the world, organizes our climate and provides food for more than three billion people,” he said.

High temperatures, pollution and overfishing causes significant damage to the world’s oceans and the societies that depend on them.

The forum comes before the United Nations Oceanic Conference in Nice, France, this week, with the events that look at the role played by the oceans in world trade, food security and sustainable energy.

In Monaco on Sunday, the prince was speaking to an audience of environmental advocates, scientists and investors – many of whom traveled there with the aim of financing ocean protection projects.

Prince William admitted that investing in the ocean business could be a difficult proposal for investors.

“Often, you can feel far away and separate from our daily life, allowing us to forget how important this is,” he said. “We must realize the capabilities of the blue economy for our ecosystems and economies and our societies.”

The prince was speaking as the founder of the Earthshot Award, which offers five million pounds a million pounds every year for the best solution to the largest climate challenge.

Many of the winners of the Earthshot and twenty in the past were in the audience.

Enric Sala, of the SEAS SEAS project at the National Geographical Society, was a final position in 2021, and a pioneer to protect marine life.

It is also part of the team that produced the new David Attenborough, Oceans, which Prince William described as “the most convincing argument that I have seen at all.”

The prince said: “Watching human activity reduces the beautiful marine forests to arid deserts at the base of our oceans.”

“For many, it is an urgent awakening call to what is going on in our oceans. But it can no longer be a matter” away from view, away from mind. “

He ended his speech by saying that the work was necessary for future generations and quoted David.

“If the sea saved us, we save our world.”

The prince conducted an interview with Sir David at the first show of Oshak last month, with the film His product described it as “the greatest message [Sir David] He said before.

Kensington Palace described the speech as “historic intervention” by Prince William, using his platform to generate change and make investments to expand ocean solutions.

While he was in southern France, Prince Chavez met with Costa Rica, President Macron France and Prince Albert from Monaco – a supporter of many ocean projects and a major player in the forum.

Prince William will also attend a closed session, held separately, with ocean experts and investors.
