The Moroccan and Spanish authorities have finalized the details of Operation Marhaba 2024. The annual operation facilitates the return of millions of Moroccans living abroad to Morocco during the summer months.
During a meeting in Tangier, today, Monday, with the Spanish Secretary of State for the Interior, Susana Crisostomo, Khaled Zerouali, Director of Immigration and Border Protection, discussed preparations. The goal is to ensure the smooth return of Moroccan immigrants.

The plan includes a fleet of 29 ships from 7 different shipping companies serving 11 sea routes. These ships can make 8,000 transit trips and carry more than 7 million passengers and 2 million vehicles. The Mohammed V Solidarity Foundation plays a central role in the organization and will also provide social assistance.
To facilitate the journey, the port infrastructure in Tangier Med, Tangier Medina, Nador and Al Hoceima is currently being renovated. There will be rest areas, shaded areas, walkways, signage and dredging of the ferry terminals.

In addition, special committees were created at the regional and currency levels, the security services were strengthened, and the continuity of Moroccan consulates in Spain was ensured, including during weekends and official holidays. Finally, a multimedia strategy was developed to exchange information with the Moroccan diaspora and between the two countries.
