Memphis Depay made a successful substitute for FC Barcelona on Saturday night (US time). In the Catalan club’s last exhibition match in the United States, the orange international made a decisive 0-2 match against the New York Red Bulls just before time.
Memphis entered the Red Bull Arena twenty minutes before the end as a substitute for Robert Lewandowski. The striker from Bayern Munich faced an unfortunate evening and missed a number of imposed opportunities, especially in the first half.
During his role, Memphis showed himself to be more efficient. Expecting a deep ball from Miralem Pjanic in the 87th minute, he gratefully took advantage of a misunderstanding at the back of the home team, and then simply shot. Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring with a pass from Rafinha in the last stage of the first half.
Frenkie de Jong was finally allowed to start at base again from coach Xavi. The midfielder who is under pressure from the club Either leave or hand over a large part of his salaryHe was in his beloved place in midfield. Halfway through, he was left in the dressing room.
With their victory over New York, Barcelona concludes their American training journey. Next week there will be an exhibition match with Mexican Pumas Onam, on August 13, the club will start the season in Spain with a home match against Rayo Vallecano.
