The Netherlands loses its first match in the group
The Dutch cricketers lost their first group match in the World Cup. The Netherlands’ first World Cup match since 2011 ended 286-205 in Pakistan’s favour. The Netherlands have never managed to win a cricket match against Pakistan, and things went wrong on Friday.
The Netherlands started strongly against favorites Pakistan after winning the toss. The Dutch team quickly attacked three players, including the dangerous captain Babar Azam. The partnership of Mohammad Rizwan (68 runs) and Saud Shakeel (68 runs) gave Pakistan hope again, after which the team reached a score of 286 runs.
In the hunt for 287 runs, the Dutch team quickly lost two batsmen, but recovered thanks to Vikramjit Singh and Pas de Leyde. Singh was good for 52 runs and De Leede, who also took four wickets in the first innings, made 67 runs. After their departure, only Saqib Zulfiqar (10 years old) and Logan Van Beek (28 years old) managed to reach double figures. With a total of 205 runs, the last Dutch hitter was retired.
The Dutch national team will play again on Monday when it faces New Zealand. The last of the nine group matches will be on November 12. The best four countries in the Group of Ten qualify for the semi-finals of the World Cup.
