Tonight Roger Federer will officially say goodbye to the world of tennis to a frantic London crowd. As a result, the court already embeds a place in tennis history.
Some information about the arena itself. It is located in the far north of the Greenwich Peninsula on the Thames, and is part of the O2 entertainment complex. The O2 Arena is one of the world’s most popular venues for sporting events, concerts, and family shows.
Built into the Millennium Dome, which has been called “The O2” since 2005, the events arena opened on January 1, 2000. The entire dome is 365 meters in diameter and 52 meters high. Construction began in 2003 and the arena opened on 24 June 2007. The O2 Arena has the second largest capacity anywhere in the UK, after the Manchester Arena in Manchester.

ATP Finals
It certainly isn’t the first time the London Arena has hosted a tennis event. From 2009 to 2020, O2 hosted the ATP Finals, the unofficial Tennis World Cup, to which the top eight tennis players in the world will be invited at the end of the year.
Four players representing Team Europe this year were the best in London. Roger Federer won in 2010 and 2011, Novak Djokovic was the strongest in the year-end championship from 2012 to 2015, Andy Murray triumphed in front of his fans in 2016, and Stefanos Tsitsipas took the title in 2019.
Nice site for a very special edition of the Laver Cup. The frantic 20,000 fans will want to shout out Team Europe for the win from 2pm Dutch time when Casper Ruud and Jack Sock open the ball.
However, the climax comes tonight around 8:30pm, as Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal go head-to-head against Jack Sock and Francis Tiafoe in what will be the last-ever match for the Swiss master. Not at Wimbledon, not at Arthur Ashe Stadium, but at the O2 Arena, Roger Federer will play his last ever official match.
