Last month 2 Covid deaths and 35 new infections

In February, two coronavirus deaths and 35 new infections were recorded in Suriname. The number of infections decreased sharply last month compared to January. Then there were 205 new cases.

This is evident from the recent update of the numbers on Official COVID-19 website Suriname government. The numbers also show that on February 2 patients ended up in hospital and one person in intensive care.

Many cases of influenza occur during this period, however, the difference between influenza and Covid-19 can only be done by testing for Covid-19.

Influenza comes in different forms and since there are still many Covid-19 infections, it is highly recommended that you get swabbed if you have symptoms and/or signs of influenza. Only by testing will you know what it really is.

Symptoms and/or signs:

  • Fever (at least 37.5°C) with no markedly different focus (or feeling feverish)
  • cough
  • Loss of sense of taste or smell
  • Body aches or muscle aches without another apparent cause
  • diarrhea or vomiting
  • nausea
  • exhaustion
  • Cold shivers
  • shortness of breath
  • sore throat
  • confusion
  • Headache (often relatively orbital)
  • Runny nose
