‘KNVB emerges in US and approaches best candidate to win Hukma’

The successor to Ernest Stewart Nico-John Hukma should be KNVB’s best football director. The 52-year-old Dutch American is considered the leading candidate and has since been approached by the club’s professional football director, Marianne van Leeuwen.

Suggests that Telegraph Wednesday. Stewart has held a similar position at the United States Soccer Federation (USSSF) since 2018. According to the newspaper, the former professional of VVV-Venlo, Willem II, NAC Breda and DC United was honored by this request and is considering whether he will consider a series of conversations. He wants his contract in the US to expire at the end of 2022 and eventually return to the Netherlands with his family.

However, it remains to be seen whether that moment has already come. The American Federation is very satisfied with Stewart’s work and wants to extend it with him. The former midfielder is set to prepare the country for the 2026 World Cup, which will be played in the United States, Canada and Mexico. However, Stewart was pleased with Geist’s interest and did not reject the change.

If Stewart starts working at KNVB, his first decision will be immediately significant. He will appoint the successor to Louis van Gaal, who in principle will retire after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Stewart gained experience as technical director at VVV-Venlo, NAC, AZ and Philadelphia Union.
