Judoka San Verhagen ends his career: “I turned my life upside down for games” | other sports

Judoka Sanne Verhagen immediately ended her career. The 29-year-old Verhagen has twice represented the Netherlands at the Olympic Games.

I decided to stop sports and focus on my social career. I am grateful for the beautiful moments and experiences best sports have given me. “Judo is and always will be a part of my life,” said Verhagen, who competed in the 57 kilos category.

Last summer, Verhagen lost at the Tokyo Olympics in the second round to Nora Jiakova of Kosovo. After that, she already expressed doubts about continuing her career. ,, I’m going on vacation now, then I’ll think and then I’ll see where the ship ends. It turned my life upside down in gaming. Every athlete focuses on one thing and has to deal with the highs and lows. “I think you learn and gain a lot, for me it was definitely worth it,” she said in Japan.

Eight years ago, Verhagen won the bronze medal at the World Cup in Chelyabinsk, Russia. There have been no major successes in recent years.
