Motocross rider Jeffrey Herlings finished fourth in his first serious appearance since November 2021 at Hawkstone Park International, a competition in Great Britain featuring a number of top MXGP racers.
Herlings, a two-time world premier motocross champion, missed the entirety of last season with a broken left heel. The new season in MXGP begins March 12 with the Grand Prix of Patagonia-Argentina. The victory in Shrewsbury went to compatriot Glenn Coldenhoff.
Herlings finished the first race in seventh place and finished second in the second moto despite a fall. Another match follows in France next week, after which the 28-year-old travels from Brabant to Argentina. “It could be better today but I know it takes a while to get back to the level we want to be. Fourth place isn’t bad, but a bad start and a crash didn’t help me today,” said Herlings, who recently extended his contract with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing until 2025. .
