IBM has appointed Kathryn Guarini as Chief Information Officer

IBM’s chief information officer, Fletcher Brevin, will leave the company to pursue other opportunities. With Fletcher gone, Kathryn Guarini will take over as Chief Information Officer.

Catherine of IBM Research, where she most recently held the positions of Director of Operations and Vice President of Impact Science.

These changes take effect immediately, with Kathryn and Fletcher working together over the next several weeks to ensure a smooth transition.

Catherine has held numerous technical, management and executive roles in research and development at IBM during more than 20 years at IBM. She has also led large global teams to deliver complex solutions that meet changing client needs, and has expertise in technology strategy and leadership development. Catherine’s innovative technical research has won numerous industry awards and has written more than 60 technical publications. She has a PhD. He holds a PhD from Stanford University in applied physics and has received more than 65 US patents.

Catherine is also passionate and active in directing, inspiring, and recruiting scientists and engineers of all ages, especially women. She blogs regularly on her website “Mother of Invention” about leadership, science and innovation.

Under Fletcher, the CIO has undergone a major transformation. The team has improved and improved our internal tools, applications, and IT infrastructure to create a more productive environment for IBM people around the world as they collaborate and interact with partners and customers.
